Collinsville Unit 10 makes special education services available to all children ages three through 21 who reside within our district boundaries.  A continuum of services, based upon the child's individual needs, is provided in the least restrictive environment.  These services range from providing consultation for the child's general education classroom teacher to full-day programming.  Our goal is to provide each student who qualifies for special education services access to the general education curriculum and instruction sufficiently intense to enable successful learning.  Special and general educators share responsibility in making accommodations and modifications for qualifying students.  If CUSD10 cannot meet the student's needs, placement outside the district may be considered.

CUSD10 participates in Starting Points, a school and family partnership, for families that are expecting a child or have children up to three years old.  Children with disabilities up to age three and in need of specialized services are referred to Child and Family Connections, an agency that coordinates needed services for the student and their family.

Occupational and physical therapy are available as related services to qualifying students.  Speech and Language services are available as special education or related services, depending upon the needs of the child.  The intent of school-based occupational and physical therapy is to provide service to students placed in special education who demonstrate the need for occupational or physical therapy in order to make progress on his or her goals and objectives in the child's Individualized Education Plan.
