INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH OCCUPATIONS
The introduction to health occupations class is a one semester class that introduces students to basic concepts common to all allied health careers.  A variety of health careers are explored to give students the opportunity to choose a career field of interest.

CLINICAL HEALTH OCCUPATIONS
Clinical Health Occupations is a basic nurse assisting class.  Upon completion, students are able to test for Certified Nursing Assistant.  This class is approved as a nurse assistant training course by the Illinois Department of Public Health, and in addition, students who earn a "C" or better in the class will be awarded 6 credit hours at Southwestern Illinois College toward their nursing or other allied health degree.  This course is available for juniors and seniors.

EMERGENCY HEALTH OCCUPATIONS
Emergency Health Occupations is an EMT-Basic Training Program.  The course is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health for basic emergency medical technician certification.  Upon completion of the course with a "B" average, students will sit for the EMT-B Certification Test.  College credits are also awarded upon completion of this course.  Because of Illinois state law, this course is only open to seniors, and students must be 18 to take the certification exam.
