Dear Parents,

    I’m looking forward to the new school year and getting to know you and your children. Third grade is an exciting year in a child’s development. I will do my best to see that it is a successful year for your child.

    I will keep you informed of progress and projects. Please encourage your child to keep a pocket folder in his/her backpack. Check this folder daily for notes, graded work, or unfinished work. Each Monday look for a homework schedule. This schedule will keep you up to date with news, assignments, long range projects, and will also include the week’s spelling words.

    I encourage all of my students to read for enjoyment at home as well as at school. Rewards will be given for each day a student reads for one half hour at home. They will return pink slips of paper signed by the parent or whoever listened to them read. Reading with someone, being read to, or reading silently all count.

    I try to create a learning environment where respect and kindness are highly regarded both teacher to student and student to student. It is very important to me that your child has a happy and successful school year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
