What's Goin' On...

P. E.

Maryville students and staff, especially Mrs. Bohnenstiehl, are proud to introduce their P. E. student teacher, Lori Rebholz! Miss Rebholz comes to us from Mendota, Illinois, where she lived with her parents and older sister. After attending Illinois Valley Community College on a softball scholarship, she transferred to SIUE. For a while, she lived in Collinsville. She still works in Collinsville at Family Video, but she now lives in south St. Louis.
Her favorite activity is playing on a Women’s Competitive Flag Football League. She plays every Saturday during this time of year. Being involved in the league calls for some traveling and fundraising. During the summer season, you will find her playing softball on a slow-pitch women’ s softball league in St. Louis. Keeping active is a lifestyle for her.
As for Maryville School, she will be involved with p. e. activities that include cupstacking, ragball soccer, tennis and tumbling Miss Rebholz is glad that Maryville has been an important part of her education. She is also glad to be graduating on December 19th! Welcome and good luck, Miss Rebholz!

In Math we have been busy writing our numbers 1 - 10, making ABB patterns, working with scales and pan balances, and counting from 0 - 50!
We are looking forward to our family breakfast on November 13th, making stone soup while dressing up as Pilgrims and Native Americans and making candy cornucopias.

Second

Second graders enjoyed our theme Nature Walk during the month of October. Unfortunately, our field trip to Willoughby Farms was canceled due to the weather. Instead, we got to camp out in the gym at school and workers from Willoughby came to visit us with different animal skeletons and skins. It ended up being a fun day for everyone!
Fall parties went great! Thanks to all of the parents who could help out in any way. Also, thanks to all of the parents who attended conferences at the end of October. We were happy to talk to all of you.In November, second grade will be studying the different regions of Native American tribes.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Fourth

A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." -Christopher Reeves

In 4th grade, we are learning about decimals. It is hard to add decimals because you have to line up the numbers. In Science, we have been absorbing knowledge about the Earth, simple machines, astronomy, and matter. We are learning how to play tennis in P.E. We have also been working on putting together an act for the courtesy assembly in December.

Best Wishes Always,
Fourth Grade Students (Hannah, Payten and Kennedy in 4M)
