A Note From the Principal

Happy New Year!

I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing Winter Break with family and friends. I would like to congratulate Maryville Elementary for raising $311.30 for Maryville Manor by selling candy grams.  It was wonderful to see so many students from Maryville pulling together for a good cause during the holiday season.

The next few months are prime time for student learning and your support is essential.  Making sure your child is at school on time, with a good night's sleep and breakfast ensures that your child's day is set for success.  Learning is reinforced when students go home and have time with a parent or significant adult to talk about their day, read together, and discuss the homework plan.  Show your child that school is important and they will take your lead.  We are eager to be partners in your child's learning.

As we end the holiday season and begin 2009, it is important for students to continue to stay engaged and focused on learning. It is so important to be on time for school each and every day of the school year. It is the expectation for all students to be in class and ready for learning by 8:00 a.m.

It is that time of year when the weather can be difficult to predict. Please listen to the radio or television for school delays and closings. A SchoolReach phone call will be sent out if school is cancelled, so be sure your telephone information is updated in the office.  Also, students need to remember to dress appropriately for the weather so they are comfortable for outdoor recess by wearing coats, scarves, gloves, and hats. It is our goal to have outdoor recess as much as possible in order to allow students to be engaged in physical activities with their peers.

If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please do not hesitate to call (346-6261) or email me at jluehman@kahoks.org .

Sincerely,
Joanna Luehmann
Maryville Elementary Principal
