PUT YOUR OLD SHOES TO GOOD USE!!!
Bring any type of shoe to school by December 16 (rubber band them or tie laces, no spikes or boots). The SHOEMAN (George Hutchings) cashes them in and uses the money to build wells in Kenya. Check out the website www.shoeman.org, to see exactly how he does this.

GREEN TIP

Allied Waste is unveiling a new trash/recycling program for residents of Maryville. Actually, the only new part of it is the recyclables will be collected every other week AND the blue bin will no longer be used. They are supplying you a new bin with a lid. Allied Waste will be using the same truck to collect recyclables on Friday and the trash on Monday-Thursday. Every Allied Waste customer should have received an explanation letter and calendar of pick up dates. Please REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE, and RETHINK.

GREEN TIP

If your child has electronics on their Christmas wish list, consider getting rechargeable batteries and a charger too. It will help the environment AND save you money. Some toys need eight or more batteries, which can add up. You'll spend less as you can recharge rechargeable batteries over and over.
