Let’s Hear About Good Kids

TO THE EDITOR:

So often it seems that the media only carry stories about youth in trouble for one reason or another. Last Friday I enjoyed a group of teenagers (from) Unit 10, and their parents should deservedly be very proud. I enjoyed (watching) the Pep Band from North Junior High School perform at TheBANK of Edwardsville’s Customer Appreciation Day. They were outstanding.
Their performance was great. They were very serious about the performance and it was obvious. They set up knowing what they were supposed to do and did it without being reminded. During their performance they were completely "tuned in to" their bandleader and what they were supposed to be doing-no daydreaming, watching cars go by or poking the person next to them.
Their music was wonderful. I enjoyed watching the young men on the drums. They didn’t miss a beat. They were really into it.
When they took a break for lunch, there was no running, pushing, etc. Their parents should be proud of them. I think these youngsters must have a lot of respect for their bandleader and must have parents who show interest and support them and the program. It just goes to prove that there are good kids out there.
     Let’s hear more about them.
