CMS Artists Show Their Talent at the SIUe Gallery
Four Collinsville Middle School students recently had an opportunity to show their talent at an exhibit this fall. This honorable event took place in November at the SIUe Children’s Annual Art Exhibit, in the MUC Gallery, which included an open house on November 22. Any school within a 50 miles radius was invited to participate. A maximum of four pieces from each school could be submitted for the exhibit.
CMS art teachers Ms. Simon, chose pieces (that were recently produced in art class), from four students and submitted them for the exhibit. Ms. Simon commented that she chose these four pieces in particular, because they demonstrated creative problem solving and good craftsmanship. She also points out that because this is often the first official art class students participate in; they often do not realize their abilities until they produce a piece like this that is exhibit worthy. SIUe recently re-instated the exhibit which will be held each fall. Ms. Simon looks forward to discovering new talent each year to include in this exhibit.
